About

“The discipline of the writer is to be still and listen to what his subject has to tell him.”        — Rachel Carson

I founded Blue Horizon Communications in 2000, at the start of the new millennium, after decades of professional writing and editing experience (see description below), and have worked with more than two hundred and fifty authors in the years since.

Each author and each book project gets my full attention for the duration of our work together (and often afterwards, as well). I enthusiastically go out of my way to be of service in ways that aren’t part of “the job description” –- because, Why else do this work, if not to be of assistance in every way possible?

Also, I get really involved in each project, and take it on as if it were my own, while still maintaining objectivity and discernment. Decades of professional writing and editing make this possible.

But nothing makes me happier than to hear from a new author who has a really interesting book project with wonderful potential. I truly feel fulfilled by making use of all my experience, as well as the talents I seem to have in this lifetime, to help authors write and publish their books. I know what realizing a creative dream can mean to an author.

So here’s a brief overview of the work that helped me prepare for founding Blue Horizon Communications.

For more than twenty-five years, I worked with experts in diverse fields to shape their written material into clear and effective prose.

Those experts included physicians, lawyers, educators, holistic practitioners (healers, intuitives), healthcare professionals, and business people in both the corporate and small business arena.

I worked as a freelance writer and editor, as well as in house (or on staff) — as senior staff writer at a medical center; copy director at a public relations firm specializing in marketing professionals and their professions, or businesses; and communications consultant at two global insurance companies.

My bylined work, and articles I ghosted, appeared in countless trade magazines for diverse professional fields –- from medicine, to land conservation, to law — and in such general interest magazines and newspapers as The Philadelphia Inquirer, Philadelphia Daily News, The Pennsylvania Gazette, Philadelphia Magazine, and Main Line Today Magazine.

A Final Note:

As the founder and sole proprietor of Blue Horizon Communications, I provide all the book services offered.

But when the workload requires it, I may call on other book professionals to help out. If that seems like a good idea (when an author wants a rush job, and the waiting list is especially long, for instance), I will first discuss this option with that author, before assigning another writer or editor. And I will still oversee the final result. (An author can also opt to wait a few weeks until the workload eases up.)

There are other creative professionals who work with Blue Horizon Communciations, from time to time –- graphic designers, publicists, and consultants of various kinds. (For this reason, the “we” pronoun was used throughout the site.)

I welcome feedback from visitors, along with requests for specific additions to the site information and offerings. And can easily be reached at: Books@BlueHorizonCommunications.com
