Professional Background
"The discipline of the writer is to be still and listen to what his subject has to tell him." -- Rachel Carson
For over twenty-five years, I have worked with experts in diverse fields to shape their written material into clear and effective prose. Those experts have included physicians, lawyers, educators, holistic practitioners (healers, intuitives, healthcare professionals), and business people in both the corporate world and small business arena.
I have worked as both a freelance writer and editor, as well as in house (or on staff), as senior staff writer at a medical center; copy director at a public relations firm specializing in marketing professionals and their professions, or businesses; and communications consultant at two global insurance companies.
My bylined work, and articles I ghosted, have appeared in countless trade magazines for equally diverse fields, from Occupational Health & Safety, to The National Law Journal, to Physician's News Digest, to Small Business Reports. They have also appeared in many general interest magazines and newspapers, including The Philadelphia Inquirer, Philadelphia Daily News, Philadelphia Magazine, and Main Line Today Magazine.
Some of my freelance clients have included the University of Pennsylvania Health System, Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, ACE USA, Natural Lands Trust, and Lippincott, Williams & Wilkins. I am also at work on a narrative nonfiction book of my own, excerpts from which have appeared in several literary journals.
I am a member of the national chapter of the Editorial Freelancers Association,
the eWomen Publishing Network, Copyediting-L, and Boomer Women Speak.
