Book Proposals
"What is so wonderful about great literature is that it transforms the [one] who reads it towards the condition of the [one] who wrote, and brings to birth in us also the creative impulse." -- E.M. Forster
Since a book proposal is critical for an author who wants to find an agent and, ultimately, a publisher, I offer the assistance needed to construct a market-conscious proposal designed to sell the book to both agents and publishers.
This can mean providing simple consultation, overall copyediting, or developmental editing (rewriting and restructuring). It may also mean actual collaboration, or creating the entire document from start to finish, using information provided by the author.
Most book proposals for nonfiction books require two or more sample chapters, and all of the above services are available for the preparation of the proposal's sample chapters, as well.
Fiction book proposals, on the other hand, usually require a completed manuscript. The entire novel must be available when the proposal generates interest, and an agent or publisher asks for the complete manuscript in order to consider the project further.
A brochure describing the elements of an effective book proposal -- an essential sales tool for authors -- is available to those authors who have contracted with Blue Horizon Communications for editorial services.
Authors are invited to Contact Us to outline their Book Proposal and Sample Chapters needs in an email, so we may discuss these during the initial phone consultation which is free.
