Copyediting
Writing is thinking -- in increasingly clear, verbally precise ways. Carefully nuanced, clear thought is hard work.
If an author has completed a manuscript draft and wants assistance with perfecting this and successive drafts, I offer a range of copyediting services -- from light, to moderate, to more extensive.
This might mean:
- a simple grammar, spelling, and consistency form of editing;
- a deeper, flow-of-language and clarification-of-message form of editing;
- or a more complex developmental edit -- one involving rewriting or restructuring, or both.
I also provide additional subject matter suggestions, as well as feedback about the overall effectiveness of the manuscript's tone and illustrative content choices.
I pay particular attention to those areas which could benefit from a bit of rethinking to achieve the desired effect (please see How We Can Work Together.)
